Giving In…But Not Giving Up

It’s been a while since my last blog post huh. But then, when you’ve got work and a farm to deal with, you rarely get free time. So I will use this day of relaxation to write up a life update. Where shall I begin…

For starters, we were lucky enough to welcome into this world lots of little piggies last week, and they’re all doing very well. There are lots of things around the farm and house so with the addition of these cuties there’s been even more to do. We had to put together a farrowing pen last minute because they all came so unexpectedly.

Work has been, well, work. I’ve gotten the opportunity to work on the School of Architecture’s grad website, so it’s been good(albeit frustrating) to get some more experience. I hope to one day do freelancing web design via WordPress in the future. It would be very nice to work from home and have some money coming in from the side in addition to my one day business.

In relation to the business, well, I haven’t had time or energy to do much with it. I basically gave myself a long break to get over the frustrations of starting up and failing. But now I’m back at the drawing board, focusing on research and filling up my head with all the knowledge I can in relation to small businesses, candles, soaps, and cosmetics.

Since Christmas is just around the corner, I’ve been looking around for gifts for everyone. And, realizing it’s not likely that I’ll be able to buy everything in a store, I’ve gone and applied for a credit card… v.v Yeah, I know. A few months back I was determined not to do it. But I’ve realized that it’s much easier to have the card on hand for online purchases, rather than running to the store for a prepaid card. So by the end of this week I’ll have my very own credit card, explicitly for online use. To ensure I don’t use it elsewhere I’ve planned on keeping it at home so I’m never tempted to use it when I’m out and about. So, although I am getting a card, I am ensuring that I don’t put myself in the indebted shoes of my parents.

On another note, I’m thinking about starting another blog, just for my farm life and about our animals and gardening, and probably for the making of soaps and candles(perhaps even cosmetics?). I’m not sure yet, as I want Beauty Geek to be mostly for my geeky and girly nature, and the farm blog to be about my everyday life, and farming. I want my cosmetics, soaps, and candles to be as natural as possible, so maybe they will fit in on the farm blog? What do you guys think?
