Flu on the Farm


Alas, my father has fallen ill. He’s been in bed sick since Friday. Which is truly a shame, we were planning on butchering a pig this weekend to have a suckling pig for dinner this Christmas. But tomorrow will be the last possible day to do it, as it has to soak in the brine for 24 hours. But I’m pretty sure that’s not going to happen. So, luckily we had a ham left over from one of our last pigs that we’ve kept in the freezer. It is currently in our mini fridge to thaw out as a last resort. To be honest, I can’t say I’m all that upset about it. The piglets are all much too adorable to eat! Especially my favorite, Runt (as the name implies, the runt of one of the litters). I know, being livestock, I really shouldn’t get attached but…gosh I can’t help it. >.<
