Makeup Monday: Benefit They’re Real! Push Up Liner Review

Hello there my geeks! I’ve been dying to try out the new Benefit They’re Real! Push Up Liner* ever since it was released. And, as a beauty blogger I felt it was my duty to purchase and review it for you guys….for some reason I feel like us beauty bloggers use that as an excuse to buy new beauty items way too often…. πŸ˜‰

This gel liner pen is supposed to give you all of the benefits (see what I did there…eyyyy???….no?…moving on) of a gel liner combined with a liquid liner pen. To have the great texture, color and matte look & feel of a gel liner, but the ease of use and crisp lines of a liquid liner. According to the packaging,

It’s the FIRST EVER lash-hugging gel liner pen! The custom AccuFlex tip HUGS your lashline for bigger-looking eyes in seconds. The closer the line, the bigger the eye!

Advertised Benefits & Features:

  • 91% said it was long-wearing**
  • 81% said it was waterproof**
  • 86% said it hugged the lashline**
  • 84% said eyes looked visibly larger
  • Custom soft, angled tip gets the matte black, smudge-proof liner close to your lashline
  • **results observed in a consumer panel survey

The liner pen itself has a beautiful, sleek, black design. The bottom twists to dispense the product, and the cap twists off of the pen. I liked this since it means that if it’s in your makeup bag or purse you never have to worry about the lid falling off and the product drying out. Remove the cap and you’ll find the fancy AccuFlex Tip…

The tip is made out of a soft, almost spongy material, but still manages to hold firm to draw nice even & straight lines. It’s also designed to keep your lashes out of your way to be able to get as close to the lashline as possible. I always have a problem getting close to my lashline since my eyelashes are fairly long, so I was excited to see how well this feature would work.

Before using the pen you should look over the tips they’ve listed on a slip of paper included in the box for best usage.

  1. Prep the Pen: For first-time use, remove the AccuFlex tip protector (that’s the little orange thing sticking out of your pen) & discard. Activate they’re real! push-up liner by twisting the base around until gel is delivered to the tip
  2. “Push Up” The Gel Liner: For daily use, just twist the base once for both eyes
  3. Hug Your Lashes…Every Time!: Resting the AccuFlex tip on the base of your lashes, slowly guide along your lashline from either the inner or outer corner. The angled AccuFlex tip works both ways.
  4. Looks You’ll Love…For Real

And the tricks…

  1. Put Your Stamp On It!: “Stamp” along the lashline for total control…and a straight line every time. Go steady!
  2. Double the Real!: Wear they’re real! push-up liner AND they’re real! mascara together for beyond longer lashes AND bigger-looking eyes.

Ok, so I think it’s safe to say that I LOVE THIS LINER! The first eye didn’t go very smoothly, but I’ll chock that up to not being sure how to use it best. The second eye went much smoother, as I knew how the pen and liner gel would behave. It was super easy to get great, clean, crisp, even lines. And even easier to get it right up next to my lashline!!!

I feel like it literally only took me 2 minutes (3 tops) to do each eye! Sure I don’t feel like I couldn’t get both eyes to match perfectly, but I can never do that on the best of days lol. As you can see, or rather as you *can’t* see, there is no space between the liner and my lashes, which is fantastic! The formula was nice, obviously a gel texture. I’d have to say that I would’ve preferred it to be a little thinner and a bit closer to a liquid formula, because I feel like it would make it a bit easier to put on.

This eyeliner made me one of the most vain and creatures on the planet for a day when I used it…it made me said when I had to remove it to go to bed. And, I found that it never smudged or ran throughout the day, and in fact took a little bit of effort to remove with my Almay Makeup Remover Pads. Now, as for the price… I bought this from Ulta for $24. Considering how well it works, I’m ok with the price. πŸ™‚

Conclusion

I am honestly obsessed with this eyeliner. Never before has it been so easy for me to put on my liner and get such beautiful crisp lines and to be able to get a winged look so quickly. It’s easy to use, long-lasting, and the color is fantastic. While I do wish the formula was a bit thinner and closer to that of a liquid liner, I don’t find it that much of a let down to have an effect on my overall opinion of the product. For me, it’s well worth the $24 I paidΒ to have such great liner every day, any day, all day.
