Happy Thursday my geeks! So technically, technically I was tagged by Katie from That Geek Online to do this tag post. And since the post I wanted to go up today isn’t quite ready yet, I figured I’d go ahead and do this today. 🙂 Let’s get started eh?
1. When did you start your blog?
I started this itty bitty blog in June of 2012, originally as The Beauty Geek.
2. Have you had any past online presence before blogging/Youtube?
None at all actually! Turns out that blogging acted as a gateway drug of sorts to everything awesome, like Pinterest & Instagram.
3. Why did you start a blog?
At first it was to share my different nail art designs, but over the years it’s morphed into a place to share my thoughts and geek out about the things I love – makeup, geekery & life.
4. When did you become serious about starting a blog?
I guess you could say that it took me until around the beginning of this year to actually get serious about doing this, and keeping a regular presence.
5. What was your first post?
My first post was a mini-rant (go figure) on how much I despise acrylic nails.
6. What has been your biggest challenge about blogging?
For a while it was coming up with content, and too often I caught myself trying to fit the same look or feel of a different blog I admired instead of embracing the fact that my blog was different and special. Honestly it’s part of the reason why I switched from The Beauty Geek to The Beautiful Geek. Because while I know a lot of my posts are beauty-based, I felt like I was too cornered into doing beauty stuff. I wanted to make this a place to share both of my passions.
7. Where do you see your blog in one year?
In a year, I’d like to see my blog filled with better content, and definitely better pictures. And hopefully the occasional YouTube video from my very own channel that I’m looking to start soon!
8. What is the most rewarding thing to you about blogging?
The feeling and sense of community that I get from blogging is the best thing in the world. To connect to like-minded bloggers that live who knows where and yet these same people have so much in common with myself. As someone that’s always been kind of closed off from the world this is a fantastic thing.
9. What is the most discouraging thing that happens to you?
The most discouraging thing that happens is when I notice that I’ve lost a follower. To me it feels like I’ve let them down in somehow and have failed to bring them the best content I could possibly give them. But that just gives me more incentive to do better!
10. What is your lasting inspiration or motivation?
Believe it or not, and I know every blogger/vlogger out there says it, but you guys – my readers – are my motivation. Knowing that there are people out there that appreciate my posts and enjoy reading them keeps me wanting to do this, and to keep looking for ways to make myself and this blog even better.
And there you have it. I hope you guys have enjoyed reading this little tag, and now I tag YOU to do this tag and reply in the comments below with the link! It’d be awesome to get to know you all a little bit more.
