First Impressions: Frog Prince by Lipstick Queen

I’m a sucker for interesting products, and I love lipstick. So I kind of had to try out Lipstick Queen’s new color-changing lipstick, Frog Queen. Who doesn’t love a product that changes colors after application? I was especially intrigued by this since it first starts out as a “lilypad green” lipstick, but once applied is supposed to turn into a “petal pink”. According to the description online, the green is supposed to react with the warmth of your lips and turn into a perfect tone of pink for your own lips. It’s also supposed to last all day, but we’ll see how it holds up.

So let’s start off with the packaging and initial appearance. Obviously, you can’t help but to notice how blatantly GREEN it is, which is part of it’s charm. The tube is a nice pink with a matte/metallic finish.

Pre Application

I of course left my lips completely bare, having only used some chapstick earlier in the day. Lately my lips have been annoyingly dry. 😦 Anyhow, you can see that on their own my lips have a little bit of natural color to them (an attribute that my sister and I both share).

Post Application

The lipstick goes on very sheer, and takes a second or two after applying to change into one of the prettiest sheer rosey colors I’ve seen. Frog Prince glides on really well, and doesn’t feel sticky or thick at all after application. It also has vitamin E and shea butter, which will help rehydrate my currently dry lips, huge plus!

I did notice that this lipstick does have a particularly waxy/lipsticky smell, but considering how pretty it is and how well it applies, I don’t consider it a huge turn off. It has a really nice glossy finish, but again doesn’t have the same sticky or gooey feel as some lipglosses.

As the day progressed, I did notice that it wasn’t quite as glossy as it was upon first applying, but the tint did indeed stay very well. This, I think, is saying something considering I’m constantly drinking water and snacking on something or other.

Overall, I am in LOVE with this lipstick. It’s fun, it’s gorgeous, and I can’t wait to pull it out in public and see how many weird looks I get when I go to apply it! What do you guys think?

till next post, Katie

I just picked this up, too! My friends were like, “Why are you putting on green lipstick?!”

I like the color, but found that it doesn’t last super long for me. It’s kind of like a tinted lip balm. But I still like the color and how hydrating it is. Definitely something fun for my collection!

I’m loving how hydrating it is, especially for such a pretty color. I’m not too fond of most chapsticks because I dislike most of the fruity fragrances, they tend to give me a headache because I have a sensitive nose. So this is a great alternative for me.
