Follow Your Heart

Happy Sunday everyone, I hope your week has been fantastic, and I hope that the week to come is even better. So I’m going to go ahead and apologize right now for the sappy and gushy posts that you’re likely to see popping up here on The Beautiful Geek for the next few months or so. I will do my best to keep them at a minimum, but I kind of just can’t help myself every now and then. This week’s quote is inspired by – you guessed it – love and romance and all that other good stuff.

follow your heart

However, this quote means more than just following your heart in the matters of romance. You should always strive to follow your heart, and let it take you where you need to go in life. Your heart is full of passion and spirit, so I urge all of you to follow where that passion takes you. Go after that hobby, or craft, or whatever else you are passionate about.

Human beings are special and lucky to be able to feel so strongly about so many things. We should never deny ourselves the ability to be passionate. Our passions can drive us to do some of the greatest things imaginable. They can lead us to help others in need that are across the globe from us. It’s because of our passions that we can help animals and people in need. They can take us down a path to so many new and different things, opening doors to new and much better futures.

And it makes me sad to see others around me ignoring their hearts. When others my age are going to college and working, and all they are thinking about is what job could provide the most security, the most money. Which jobs would make their parents proud. Not what would make themselves happy and content. Not something that will become a true career instead of a job, and occupation, a form of income.

I know that there are those out there that are afraid of following their heart because so many times their heart has led them down a path to heartbreak. But this is me here now telling you that you don’t need to be afraid. Please, please never stop following your heart. Because even though it’s scary, even though you could always get hurt, sometimes it brings you something that is so amazing and so fantastic that you wonder how you ever lived without it. It doesn’t even have to be a person. It could be a new pet, or maybe volunteer work that makes you happy. Even a new job.

Please, my wonderful beautiful geeks, please never stop following your hearts. Because at the end of the day, it’s what makes us truly human.

till next post, Katie
