With only a week before Valentine’s Day, I figured it’d be as good a time as any to post a lovey-dovey based post. So this week’s quote is –
While for some of us Valentine’s Day and love are the last two things we want to hear or see about, it’s all around us. And even if you don’t believe it, love will always find a way to you. It just takes more time for some than others.
If you’re single right now, please don’t be bitter. I know, I know, it really is hard not to be salty around this time of year, in the midst of all the hearts and romance floating around right now. But even if you don’t have a significant other, you still have others that love and cherish you. Your parents, siblings, friends, and pets are all still here and all still care and love you to pieces. So if you’re feeling down about not having V-Day plans, set something up with them. And if everyone is otherwise preoccupied (aka – going on a date with their S.O.), try going on a date with yourself or your pet! What better time to give yourself a little self-love than now? Order some chinese, stay in and binge watch your favorite show on Netflix. Take a bubble bath with candles and wine. Dance with nothing but socks and a tshirt on in the kitchen. Stay up until 4 am playing your favorite video games (you’d be surprised how much you can get done on MineCraft if you’ve got nothing else to do).
For some, you’re not single but still spending this Valentine’s Day alone. Be it a long distance relationship or maybe things just aren’t going too well right now (maybe someone forgot what day today was…some people can’t seem to remember what the flowers and giant pink and red hearts everywhere mean). Remember that love will always find a way, and that everything will work out to be ok somehow. You’ll get to see that special someone in the future, or the two of you will make up and come through your disagreement stronger than before. As long as you love each other, everything will work out in the end. Remember why you’re with them, and remember that relationships are work, so even if things are rough now it’ll be ok.
Now for everybody else that is either in a long-lasting relationship or maybe you just snagged someone to spend the day with, good for you! I’m happy for you! I hope that this Valentine’s Day brings you all joy and love and chocolates and romance and everything you imagined for your V-Day. But while you are going about your gushy lovey stuff, do be kind to those around you. We’ve all been alone on Valentine’s Day, we all know it ain’t fun. So by all means enjoy the day, just don’t rub it in everyone’s face.
I hope everyone – single or not – has a fantastic Valentine’s Day this year! How are you spending it?
