Hello Monday, *swivels around in my fancy chair, petting a cat* we meet again. I’ve been waiting for you.
Do you ever get bad cases of anticipation/anxiety on Sunday, knowing that the following morning you’ll have to resume work? I do, and that’s even after the job change to a much better environment. Long story short, I just enjoy having free time too much.
Anyhow, this week’s quote is about a bigger picture. About the world, in fact.
If you’ve been keeping up with the U.S. news, you know that there’s a lot of stuff going on…and not exactly what a lot of us would call “good”. There’s a lot of hatred and racism and awfulness being spread around. I have decided that it’s going to be my mission to combat this by spreading as much hope and love and cheer as I can.
My first action – sending out this reminder to everyone. We all want change, we all want a better world to live in. But none of that will ever happen if you don’t start by changing yourself. If you want people to be kinder, you first have to start being kinder. If you want people to smile in the street more, you have to be the first one to start doing so.
Think of it as a “leading by example” situation. Nothing will change unless you do. Just think – if you smiled kindly to everyone you passed in the street today, and then they smiled at everyone they saw and so on, smiles would (in a sense) be infectious. And science has proven that you can begin feeling better and overall happier just by smiling. 🙂
Smile a little more, be kinder to people around you, and maybe we will start seeing some change for the better.
