A Quick Update

Happy Thursday my geeks! It’s been a looong time since my last update, so I’m popping in to fill you in on what I’ve been up to the past couple of months.

Work has been busy as ever, and lately I’ve gotten into the habit of staying late to catch up on stuff (ick) which means I’ve had a LOT less time on my hands at home. In addition to this, Harli has recently had a couple of seizures, which up until now she’s never had before. This has meant a few more doctor’s visits than I like, and a hell of a lot more dark and depressing thoughts than is remotely healthy for my mental wellbeing. That being said, her recent medical concerns have put me in a little bit of a funk, which I’m just now being able to sort of deal with and crawl out of.

That being said, it’s somehow lead me to become more driven to start my candle business. I don’t really know how it came along, but I now have several coworkers interested in my candles, so I’m trying to get my sh*t together enough to actually start selling, at least on a small scale. This means I have labels (yay) and I’m working on getting social media pages set up. As of now, I’m still trying to decide what platform I want to use to start selling on (Etsy for example).

I’m excited and cautious about entering this new phase of my life, there’s kind of a lot riding on both situations…but here’s to hoping for the best and being prepared for the worst right?

You’re A Firework

It’s been a while, hasn’t it? I’ve had the unfortunate luck of running into some stress and anxiety over some stuff, causing me to lapse into a little bit of depression. So I’ve been absent, because when I feel low I can’t write. And I’ve been so tired lately it’s been a struggle just to keep up with normal life. So, in light of recent events and the upcoming holiday, this week’s QOTW is

You’re wonderful, and bright, and special. Never forget it. Do your best, try your hardest, and let the world know how loud you can be.

I’ll be posting an update soon, keep you posted. 😘

Mini Life Update

Good morning loves! It’s finally the end of the week…and it’s been a very long few weeks for me here.

So I wanted to just pop in, say hi, and let you guys know what’s been up. Because at the end of the day, I really do enjoy blogging, and I love being able to share my experiences with you guys.

At the beginning of this month, Zach and I moved into our new house. It’s a cute little cottage style house, with 3 small bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It’s small, but has an overall coziness to it. It even has a large backyard for the pups to run and play in, and for future bonfire get togethers in the cooler months. It’ll be the first house that we’ve rented that just has our names on the lease.

Geeks who’ve moved before know what a struggle it is, and how energy-depleting it can be to move. As a result, my life has basically consisted of moving belongings, unpacking said belongings, and work. It’s caused a lot of stress…..and stress eating. And the fact that we live closer than ever to a Taco Bell didn’t help my case.

So now that it’s towards the end of the month we have mostly everything settled in. And now, I’ve realized that I went from being 150/155 pounds to a whopping 160 pounds. Which in reality isn’t bad. I don’t look nor am I actually overweight. Just a little rounder and softer in some areas. Honestly it wouldn’t be such an issue except for the fact that only 2 months ago I caved and bought new bras and was able to find jeans that fit properly. Needless to say, I am at the point where almost all of my clothes are just a tad too snug for my liking.

This is where the change starts. Right now. With my blog, my business that I’m struggling to start, my health, fitness….my life. For too long have I allowed my stress and emotions control me and my life choices.

I’ve already started the process by doing some research on healthier eating strategies, and I’ve been using my resources to track my goals. So far I’ve been showing small improvements with keeping to a fairly healthy eating plan (with of course one or two treats here and there, in moderation). My main goal is to not only get to a better and healthier weight by the end of the year, but to truly start eating better and working out and taking care of my body and mind.

I won’t be posting too much of the fitness/diet stuff here, just because I feel like it generally doesn’t fit with what I’ve got going on here. So I’m planning on sharing most of my journey through Instagram, with the hashtag #kmsweightlosschallenge. Obviously it’s not all about weightloss, but it’s what inspired me to make a true change in my lifestyle. I’ll be making small updates in my monthly updates here, just to be able to go into a little bit more detail when I feel it’s needed.

T.G.I.F – 3 Ways To Spend A Friday Night

TGIF!!! It’s finally Friday fellow geeks! We’ve made it through another week of grueling work! Friday nights are probably my favorite part of the week, symbolizing the end of work and beginning of play! Here are a couple of my 3 favorite ways to spend a Friday night.

tgif

 1) Board Games & Drinks With Friends

This is probably my favorite of all three. There’s just something about getting a group of friends together to gather around the table to play some great board games while sipping on our favorite drink. We usually end up playing Pandemic, Risk, or Betrayal at House on the Hill, depending on who comes over. Every once in awhile, we get tired of losing to Pandemic or give up on another long game of Risk to swap over to a good old round of Ring of Fire. 😉

2) Video Game All-Nighter

When we aren’t feeling entirely social and don’t want to spend money going out, Zach and I will often decide to spend the night in, playing video games until the wee hours of the morning. These nights will more than likely include delivery pizza or Chinese, depending on the mood and tons of soda. We know that our bodies aren’t going to be able to do this for too much longer, so we figured that we’d better enjoy it while it lasts.

3) Movie Date & Ice Cream

Sometimes nothing beats an old fashioned date night with a movie and ice cream afterwards. We haven’t done this in a while (ok, mostly since we got our OLED TV last winter…it kind of puts the theaters to shame XD ) but when we both feel antsy and need to get out of the house, sitting down to watch a movie on the big screen (accompanied with a similarly sized popcorn because I’m addicted to movie-theater popcorn) and watching a good movie. Nothing tops off the night quite like the cherries on top of some ice cream at our local shop, conveniently placed only a short walk away from the theater….so we can walk off that popcorn and soda to make room for ice cream. 😉

What is your favorite thing to do on a Friday night? Let me know in the comments below! Have a great weekend loves!

February Update 2017

Hello my geeks! It’s time for my monthly update, where I’ll be updating you guys on all of the nitty gritty things that’s happened in the past month. I’ll also be reviewing my goals for 2017 as well.

Let’s start with the most exciting thing that happened last month – THE PATRIOTS WON SUPER BOWL 51!!!! My home team won 34-28, winning the first ever Super Bowl to be put into overtime! ❤

I ❤ Taco Tuesday 🌮🌮🌮 🙌🏼 #tacotuesday #ilovetacos

Zach and I also discovered these beautiful things called tortilla boats! I cannot believe that we haven’t come across these amazing things before now. They make tacos soooo much easier to hold and even easier to eat. 😉 Not only do they keep all of the goods inside the tortilla (instead of falling out of the end) but they also stand up on their own!!!

The cutest thing about this beer? It was named after the creators own beloved boxer. #dukesbeer #boldcitybrewery

And last but not least, I finally found myself a beer that I actually like. I’ve never been super fond of beer, but I’ve been searching for one that I can drink. I’m not sure why, but for some reason I’ve really wanted to broaden my range of prefered drinks from fruity drinks and amaretto sours. So I have been trying ones here and there, and I’ve been eyeballing this particular brand because, well, it has a Boxer on it. Funnily enough I like this one, which happens to be named after the creator’s very own beloved Boxer. ❤

Now that we’ve taken a peek into the past month, let’s do a quick review of my goals for the year.

Blog

I’ve been blogging more consistently and on schedule, though a couple of them have gone up a little later in the day than preferred. And as far as YouTube, the 500 followers, and reorganizing my blog are more slow-coming goals. And as far as making more personal updates – well we’re here now. 🙂

Life

Ahhh life. The hardest thing anyone will ever have to conquer. I’ve been doing a series of workouts inspired by yoga, so I’ve been counting that towards my goals of both working out at least 1x a week and doing yoga 2-3x per week.

I unfortunately haven’t been able to work on my Warhammer models…in fact it seems like I’ve deepened the hypothetic pit that I was already in. I recently bought 2 more boxes of models…guys I think I’ve got an issue. XD

Now for eating better, taking better care of myself, and decluttering…well let’s say it’s another slow progressing set of goals.

BUSINESS

All of these things are going to take a while to complete. I’ve still got to finish making the set of candles that I’d like to sell year round. But I’ve got my labels figured out, so from here I just need to finish making the main line and figure out where I’m going to get my labels made. Another (very) slow moving set of goals…but these ones are for sure going to change my life. (hopefully, at least).

Alrighty then! I think that just about covers everything ya’ll! I’ve updated you on just about everything I can think of – for now 😉
