February ’17 Ipsy Bag Review & Reveal

Hello loves! I’m coming back atcha with another Ipsy Bag reveal! This has got to be on of my favorite subscription services out there. It’s only $10 a month, and each month I get new beauty products to try out. Sometimes I’ll even get something I already know that I love! For a beauty-product addict it’s kind of perfect. February’s theme was #IpsyMuchLove, which focused on some of the products that the collaborators over at Ipsy love the most.

This month’s bag was a super cute and simple denim bag with a bright neon orange trim and zipper. ❤

22017 Ipsy Bag

BeFine Food Skin Care – Gentle Face Cleanser

This gentle cleanser features 100% vegan ingredients (like coconut oil & tea tree oil) and is packed with everything that’s good for your skin. It not only moisturizes with the coconut oil but it detoxes and balances out oil production with tea tree oil and orange extract. It’s also slightly minty scented, making it an invigorating morning face wash. It’s almost so gentle that it’s not exfoliating enough for my personal preference. It would definitely be great for sensitive skin types!

Trust Fund Beauty – Nail Polish ‘I Give A Good Tweet’

I fell in love with Trust Fund Beauty thanks to Ipsy, and I was excited to see this robin’s egg blue polish in my bag this month! It’s also just the tiniest bit shimmery, which is perfect for if you want that little bit of extra pop. This color is going to be great to wear all Spring and around Easter!

BellaPierre Cosmetics – Volumelash Waterproof Mascara

Every girl needs a good waterproof mascara. Whether you’re going to a wedding or going to Disney in the middle of Spring (when it’s no surprise if it rains for 20 minutes in the middle of the afternoon in Florida), this mascara will hold up to even the most humid of days. Talk about a Florida girl savior. The brush is flexible and helps get each last coated without clumping. You wanna know what’s really awesome though? This mascara comes off easily with makeup remover so you don’t have to tug or rub at your lashes! ❤

22017 Ipsy 2

NYX Professional Makeup – Butter Lipstick ‘Ripe Berry’

This lipstick is perfect for those days when you don’t want matte lips but can’t stand the thought of that super glossy look. This gives you a nice hydrated and healthy glowing look, and the creamy formula applies like a dream! Ripe Berry is a beautiful cool red, which means for me it’s good for a day when I don’t want a super dark berry color but want something darker than a nude or mauve shade.

Seraphine Botanicals – Luminude ‘Primrose’

Highlighters are allllll the rage nowadays aren’t they? So of course Ipsy sent me this creamy, silky, smooth, golden-hued highlighter. It’s even made with primrose oil, which is supposed to help with acne, wrinkles and eczema. The formula of this is amazing – it feels like it just melts in the skin.

Bonus Item – itCosmetics Bye Bye Undereye Illumination

I love getting these small bonus items. I already loved itCosmetics’ original Bye Bye Undereye formula, which gave a matte finish, but there’s just something that’s soooo much better about the Illumination formula. This full coverage, anti-aging, waterproof concealer has been a dream to use!!! I’ve been trying not to use it up super fast – mostly because I’m trying to hold off on buying more makeup right now – but it’s so addictive! It blends in so well and makes me go from looking like a zombie to a normal human being. Ha! 😄

What is your favorite subscription service? Do you do the Ipsy bag, and if you do, did you like your February items?

January ’17 Ipsy Bag Review & Reveal

January’s Theme was Metropolis, so I already knew these items would have a very glam-modern feel to them. This bag was all about that city life and for the working gal. Needless to say, I’m no “city girl” but I definitely work my butt off, so I was looking forward to some great items.

Coffee? Check. Lip gloss? Check. Taxi fare? Check. Here, everything you need to own the concrete jungle.

This month’s glam bag featured a really cute and modern layered metallic blue bag.

ModelCo BLUSH Cheek Powder – Peach Bellini

This blush is a SUPER pigmented peachy-pink powder with a wonderful, almost creamy formula. It applies really well! A little goes a long way with this blush, unless you’re going for that sun-kissed clown look of course.

Lasting Smiles Lip Balm – Passion Fruit & Mango

I’m a fan of anything that can make my lips more hydrated, as they’re always chapped or peeling – but it’s a risk you take I suppose when you’re addicted to lip colors…some of which aren’t very hydrating. This lip balm not only smells amazing and fresh but not too fruity, but it’s made with all natural ingredients! With coconut, sunflower, shea, and cocoa butters, plus beeswax and jojoba oil and a healthy dose of Vitamin E, this is a great post-winter lip balm to help get rid of those cold weather induced chapped lips. How could this get any better? It can – every purchase of a Lasting Smiles lip balm helps fund cleft surgeries for children! Helping you and a child in need? Double score.

Manna Kadar Cosmetics 3 in 1 Eyeshadow – Fantasy

Yay for another eyeshadow to add to my collection! I’m a huge fan of bronze shadows, it’s a neutral enough shade that you can wear it for any occasion, but shimmery enough to (literally) add some sparkle to any look. This one kills 3 birds with one stone though, it can be used as a shadow, highlighter OR blush shade! It’s also well pigmented, so you don’t need much to create a big impact.

IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Illumination

Yessssss I love IT Cosmetics so much. I’ve had the original Bye Bye Under Eye for a long time, but only use it when I desperately need that extra coverage because it tends to feel very heavy. However, this newer formula not only does really well to illuminate the under eye area (without sparkles to “catch the light”) but it’s super light and applies very well. Something tells me that I’ll be investing in a full size of this. ❤

Ciate London Gelology Top Coat

I’ve heard amazing things about Ciate London, but I’ve never wanted to try them enough to get a bottle or two for myself. So when I got this top coat in my bag I was thrilled. I love testing new nail products, especially any that are supposed to give your mani a gel look and last. The Gelology Top Coat did well with the first, I definitely got a super glossy shine. However, it was the later that it sort of flunked out on. I originally used it over a Wet n Wild Megalast polish, the next day my polish was peeling as though I had a peel off base coat on. The next time I used a Formula X polish, and the same thing happened! I was incredibly disappointed by this top coat, it couldn’t even withstand 2 days of wear.

Overall January’s Metropolis bag was a good bag, with the one unfortunate disappointment. But you win some and you lose some right?

December ’16 Ipsy Bag Reveal & Review

Nothing says the end of the year quite like catching up on to-do lists. And popping out end of month posts for December.

December’s Ipsy theme was Carpe P.M.

Forget rules, responsibilities, and to do lists. Right now, there’s only fun. There’s only yes. There’s glitter, magic and electricity. Decide that you DGAF, let go, and live in the freaking moment. The night is yours – so seize it!

1216-ipsy-bag

December’s glam bag is the perfect sized little clutch to bring out for a night on the town – it would’ve been great for New Year’s Eve parties…if I wasn’t a hermit that spent her NYE cleaning her house. >.> It’s pink and fuzzy…what more could you ask for?

1216-ipsy-hikari-liner

First up is a definite favorite of mine. Liquid eyeliner in a felt tip pen! Even better? It’s PURPLE. I know the photo doesn’t do this Hikari Liquid Eyeliner justice, but the shade (Iris) is the most beautiful majestic violet evar. It’s also got some GREAT lasting power (aka great for parties). ❤

1216-ipsy-js-lip-balm

Winter is coming – well technically it’s already here. We all know that means cold dry weather, which is no bueno for our skin & lips. Lucky me, Ipsy sent out this smooth and hydrating Peppermint Jersey Shore Cosmetics lip balm. This balm features sunflower oil, cocoa butter, and coconut oil for super moisturized lips. What’s more – all of the ingredients are organic!

1216-ipsy-nyx-shadow

Ya’ll know I’ve got a weakness for eyeshadows. I usually end up sticking with rose golds, bronzes, nudes, and pinks…which means when I get shades like Jaded by NYX in bags I have to accept it as a challenge to learn how to use it! I’m looking forward to trying to incorporate this creaming cool green metallic shadow into my current shades.

1216-ipsy-rl-brush

I’ve been getting a lot of makeup brushes in my subscriptions…maybe it’s a sign that I need new ones? 😄 I got this Royal & Langnickel Angle Shader brush. The synthetic fiber bristles are super soft, and the matte purple handle makes for no-slip-grip application. ❤

1216-ipsy-sb

Who loves matte lip color? I know it’s been a recent obsession of mine for sure! But why bother buying a matte version for every glossy lipstick that you own when you can just use Smashbox’s Insta-Matte Lipstick Transformer? This gel mattifier feels like primer and dries in no time, and it feels velvety smooth on lips.

November Ipsy Bag Reveal & Review

Happy (late) Friday guys! This month’s Ipsy bag was AMAZING! There were so many great items, and hey the bag design itself was soooo stinking cute!

november-ipsy-bag

This month’s theme was Rockstarlet. Included in my bag were 3 Botanical Masks by bonviant, Mad Lash mascara by theBalm, a liquid lipstick by Elizabeth Mott, highlighter by OFRA, and a new mini polish by Formula X.

face-masks

I received 3 different botanical masks, a brightening mask with collagen & olive oil, a hydrating mask with sodium hyaluronate & lotus, and a tightening mask with chamomile & tea tree. I tried out the Chamomile & Tea Tree mask to see how well it worked on my oily and breakout-prone skin.

It smelled amazing, and after removing the mask there was so much extra liquid that I had to rinse the remainder off – even after rubbing a lot of it in like directed on the packaging. My face felt nice and hydrated and clean afterwards, and a little tight around my cheeks and nose.

I’m looking forward to trying out my other 2 masks for my next at home spa day. 😉

nail-polish

Formula X nail polish is quickly becoming my favorite go-to brand for long lasting manis. So I was so happy to see yet another mini polish in my bag this month, this time in Huntress. Huntress is a beautiful deep forest green polish with a little bit of golden shimmer, but in most lighting it looks almost black. Needless to say the picture doesn’t do this pretty polish any justice.

highlighter

The OFRA highlighter was the only thing in this bag that I wasn’t too thrilled with. But that’s just because it simply wasn’t showing up on me. However, I do feel like it could be used as a finishing powder.

mascara-and-lips

theBalm’s Mad Lash Black mascara was another great little goodie – and lemme tell you it looks soooooo good on. Talk about some mad lash action, I’m able to get every single little lash with the flexible wand and the formula is PERFECT.

I saved the best for last, naturally. Elizabeth Mott’s Color is Bae Lip Lacquer is the. best. thing. ever. This is super long lasting and dries matte (which I have been obsessed with). It lasted a night of birthday celebrations for Zach the other night, which included dinner, cake, and lots of drinks afterwards….and it still looked perfect. Not to mention that the shade I got – Red Chili – is my perfect shade of bright red. Guys. This is huge. Up until now I haven’t been able to find my right shade of bright red and I’ve had to keep with the berry tones. BUT NOW I FINALLY HAVE IT!!!!!

Guess you won’t be surprised if I end up doing a little excess shopping and getting a full size one of these babies.

October Ipsy Glam Bag Reveal & Review

It’s almost Halloween guys! Are you excited? What are your plans for your costumes? Whatever they are, stay safe and have fun! In the meantime, let’s take a peek at what I got in my Ipsy Glam Bag. 😉

{this month’s bag review won’t feature pictures of the individual items – while I was able to test all of them I wasn’t able to get time to get good pictures of them}

NYX Vivid Brights Liquid Eyeliner

I was super excited to see this in my bag – I love experimenting with eyeliners. This is a silver metallic liquid eyeliner, and the color payoff is AMAZING. I’ve been enjoying layering this on top of my normal black winged liner for an extra pop.

Trust Fund Beauty Gimme Good Face Primer

This primer great…if your skin isn’t oily. It worked really well to smooth the appearance of pores and other flaws, but it left my skin feeling a little too slick for my liking.

JoSHIK Nail Polish – Luxe

Gahhhhhh nail polishhhhh. ❤ I’m always happy when I get a new polish to try out. Luxe is a super dark (almost black) purple creme polish. And while it’s a little on the thicker side, it goes on fairly well and is almost completely opaque in 1 coat.

The Balm – Cabana Boy Shadow/Blush

Don’t you love when products are multi-purpose? This is a beautiful blushing pink, and while it’s a little much for a blush for me, I love how it looks on my lids!

Pure Brazilian Leave-In Conditioner

As someone that is *slightly* addicted to dying her hair, I’m always down for new ways to keep my color treated hair looking and feeling super healthy…and while I’m at it keep it actually healthy lol. Unfortunately though, like most other leave-in conditioners, this one left my hair feeling a bit too heavy.

Overall, October was a pretty good bag. I hope everyone has a great (and safe) Halloween! ❤
